It can be on mac or pc, preferably mac.
I have tried some free ones but they dont work.

a program called SUPER it converts literally all formats of audio and video into all other formats ... and is free ... http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html

I also use Easy CD-DA Extractor & Easy RM to Mp3 converter these 2 aren't free but have never disappointed me & are well worth it ..
